A CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card is a premium credit card in the travel category featuring a range of reward-earning opportunities, exclusive privileges from Visa, and extensive insurance coverage.

New applicants can enjoy a one-time annual fee rebate and earn up to 35,000 Aventura points for meeting minimum spending requirements within a given period. 

CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card features

A CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card provides a 20.99% purchase interest rate and 22.99% cash interest rate (21.99% for Quebec residents). 

The annual fee for primary CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Cardholders is $499. For up to 9 authorized users, the annual fee is $99. A welcome offer from CIBC allows new applicants to get a one-time annual fee rebate for the first year.

With a welcome offer, new CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card applicants can earn up to 60,000 welcome Aventura points — 30,000 points on the first purchase and 30,000 points upon spending $2,000 or more monthly during the first year. 

Regular reward-earning opportunities provided by a CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card allow you to earn more Aventura points when making purchases in select categories. 

When paying for travel expenses with your CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card through CIBC Rewards Center, you can earn 3 Aventura points.

Making purchases with your CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card at merchants classified by Visa as “grocery stores,” “eating places and restaurants, drinking places and fast food restaurants,” “service stations or automated gas dispensers,” “local and suburban commuter transportation in Canada,” or “entertainment” up to $200,000 annual spending threshold, you can earn 2 Aventura points for each $1 spent. After you reach the $200,000 spending threshold, you will earn rewards for purchases in these categories at a regular rate (1.25 Aventura points for $1 spent).

For every $1 spent on eligible purchases in other categories, you will earn 1.25 Aventura points.

You can further redeem your Aventura points towards any of the following: 

  • Paying up to 100% of the cost of airfare, including taxes and other charges, through the CIBC Rewards Center

  • Buying merchandise through the CIBC Rewards catalog 

  • Making purchases with promo offers from Aventura

  • Participating in online auctions offering unique trips, events, and merchandise

  • Paying your credit card balance or contributing to select financial products

From time to time, CIBC features special offers allowing you to earn Aventura points for sending money abroad through CIBC Global Money Transfer™. CIBC won’t charge you transaction fees on CIBC Global Money Transfers; only CIBC foreign exchange rates apply. A CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card qualifies for CIBC Pace It™ Installment Plans so that you can pay off your purchases of $100 and more in monthly installments at lower interest rates varying depending on a plan:

  • 4.99% for a 6-month plan

  • 5.99% for a 12-month plan

  • 6.99% for a 24-month plan

To set up an installment plan of your choice, you must pay a one-time installment fee of 1.50% of the purchase amount. 

Extensive insurance coverage featured by a CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card includes out-of-province emergency travel medical insurance, trip cancellation, and interruption insurance, flight delay and baggage insurance, auto rental collision and loss damage insurance, hotel burglary insurance, $500,000 common carrier accident insurance, and mobile device insurance, purchase security, and extended warranty insurance. You can also add optional CIBC Payment Protector™ Insurance for Credit Cards, providing coverage of your credit card payments in case of disability, job loss, critical illness, or loss of life.

How to apply for a CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card

CIBC accepts online applications for a CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card. To proceed, click the “Apply now” button on the credit card description page. On the next screen, specify if you are a CIBC client already. If yes, sign in with your CIBC Online or Mobile Banking login credentials. If no, select “No, continue application” and fill out the online application form with the following information:

  • Your first name

  • Your last name

  • Your date of birth

  • Your email

  • Your phone number

  • Your address 

  • Your living situation (rent, own/buying, live with parents, room or board, or other)

  • How long you have lived at the specified address

  • Your social insurance number

  • Your job category

  • Statement options

  • Your personal annual income

Applying for CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card requires a minimum annual income of $150,000 or a minimum household income of $200,000.

What happens if I spend over my CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite Privilege Card limit? Based on an assessment of factors like your payment history and spending patterns, CIBC can give you the privilege of not paying an over-limit fee when you spend over your credit limit. On your payment due date, you must repay the amount over your credit limit.
How do I redeem my Aventura points towards a CIBC Personal Loan payment? You can redeem your Aventura points towards a CIBC Personal Loan payment through  CIBC Online Banking or CIBC Mobile Banking. Selecting your loan from your existing products, then select “Payment with Points,” fill out the form, and submit it.
Can I get a cash advance in an ATM other than a CIBC ATM? Along with CIBC ATMD, you can access cash advances at any ATM displaying the Visa, Interac®, or Plus System symbols. To get a cash advance, you need your card and PIN.
