CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card

Updated 01.12.2022

About CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card

A CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card is a credit card in the travel category with extensive reward-earning opportunities and a range of travel-related perks. Extensive insurance coverage and exclusive privileges from Visa make this credit card a good option for frequent travelers.

As a welcome offer for new CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card applicants, CIBC provides a one-time annual fee rebate and up to 35,000 Aventura points for meeting minimum spending requirements within a given period.

CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card features

A CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card provides a 20.99% purchase interest rate and 22.99% cash interest rate (21.99% for Quebec residents).

The annual fee for a CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card is $139 for primary cardholders and $50 for up to 3 additional cardholders. As a part of a welcome offer, new applicants get a one-time annual fee rebate for primary and additional cards for the first year.

A welcome offer also gives new CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card applicants an opportunity to earn up to 35,000 welcome Aventura points — 20,000 points on the first purchase and 15,000 points upon spending $1,000 or more monthly within the first year.

As for regular reward-earning opportunities, a CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card provides an accelerated reward-earning rate for select spending categories. Every $1 spent on travel purchases made through CIBC Rewards Center will bring you 2 Aventura points.

For every $1 spent with your CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card at merchants classified by Visa as “grocery stores,” “service stations or automated gas dispensers,” or “drugstores” up to $80,000 yearly spending threshold, you will earn 1.5 Aventura points. After you reach the $80,000 yearly threshold, you will earn rewards for purchases in these categories at a regular rate (1 Aventura point for $1 spent).

Every $1 spent on eligible purchases in other categories will bring you 1 Aventura point.

You can redeem the Aventura points you’ve earned in a variety of ways, including:

  • Covering up to 100% of the airfare costs, together with taxes and other charges on airfare purchased through the CIBC Rewards Center

  • Buying shopping through the CIBC Rewards catalog of over 1,000 items

  • Getting the advantage of promo offers from Aventura

  • Participating in online auctions offering unique trips, events, and merchandise

  • Making credit card payments

Sometimes, CIBC announces limited-time offers allowing you to earn Aventura points for sending money abroad through CIBC Global Money Transfer™. There are no transaction fees for CIBC Global Money Transfers; only CIBC foreign exchange rates apply. CIBC won’t charge you interest on a CIBC Global Money Transfer either, provided you pay your balance by the payment due date.

CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Cardholders get access to the following benefits from CIBC partners:

  • Aventura Travel Assistant services designed to help you plan your trip, with no booking fees involved

  • One NEXUS application fee rebate (up to $100 value) every four years

  • Saving up to $0.10 per liter on fuel purchases at participating Pioneer, Ultramar, and Chevron gas stations with Journie Rewards

  • Car rental discounts at participating locations

As a CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card, you also get the advantage of the Visa Airport Companion Program providing four complimentary airport lounge visits per membership year.

A CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa Card is eligible for CIBC Pace It™ Installment Plans, which means you can pay off your purchases of $100 and more monthly installments at a lower interest rate, depending on a chosen plan:

  • 6.99% for a 24-month plan
